Who is eligible to use this service?

Reduced Fares
Bus fares and passes are reduced for students, seniors, and persons with disabilities.

Students - Students attending any school on Cape Cod are eligible for reduced fare. This program allows a student to board a CCRTA fixed route bus for $1.50, a 25% discount off the regular boarding rate. In order to participate, you must bring proof of enrollment to the Hyannis Transportation Center, 215 Iyannough Road, 2nd floor, Hyannis, MA. Seniors - Seniors (60+) with a Senior CharlieCard can ride CCRTA Fixed Route buses for $1.00. In addition, passengers with disabilities can purchase a monthly pass (good for unlimited travel on fixed route buses) for $30. Senior CharlieCards can be obtained at the CCRTA administrative offices located in the Hyannis Transportation Center open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 508-775-8504 for more information.

Persons with Disabilities - Persons with disabilities with a Transportation Access Pass (TAP) CharlieCard can ride local buses for $1.00. In addition, passengers with disabilities can purchase a monthly pass (good for unlimited travel on fixed route buses) for $30. TAP CharlieCards can be obtained at the CCRTA administrative offices located in the Hyannis Transportation Center open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 508-775-8504 for more information.

Applicants who meet one of the criteria below are automatically eligible for a Transportation Access Pass CharlieCard after completing a simple one page form

  • Medicare Card Holder/Part A & B or One Care Card: Please present your Red, White, and Blue Medicare Card or Commonwealth Care Alliance One Care Card at the time of visit. (No Photocopies)
  • Veteran with a disability rating 70% or greater: Present original Rating Decision Letter on Veterans Administration letterhead, signed by Veterans Services personnel, specifying disability rating.
  • Reduced Fare card holder from MA or Out-of-State: Present a current reduced fare card from your state or area with an expiration date.
  • Client of DMH/Department of Mental Health (including DMH vendors): Present original letter on agency letterhead, from authorized DMH representative (or vendor) verifying status as current client.
  • Client of DDS/Department of Developmental Services: Present original letter on agency letterhead, from authorized DDS representative verifying
    status as current client.

If you don't meet the "automatic eligibility" criteria outlined above, you may still qualify for reduced fares. If you think you might qualify, download the application at the link below, complete and submit it.

What do I do?

To request a TAP CharlieCard for the first time, you will need to complete a Transportation Access Pass Application. Download the Transportation Access Pass Application here. Read the application carefully to determine which sections of the application are required for your circumstances and return to the address on the form.
